By nature fuzz generates square waves which can cause a perceived loss of volume that a dB meter will show never happened. Even through a cranked amp, a functional Foxx Tone Machine will give a bit of a volume boost. It's not like a Maestro Fuzz Tone or other earlier fuzz pedals.
